Don't try this at home. I do hard abusive testing so you don't have to, and chopping wood is of course not what swords are meant for (although splitting shields is). Hacking the blade repeatedly into thick pieces of wood with no give is not recommended at all, although a high quality reproduction like this holds up just fine.
