This is some gameplay from the game Tetrisphere on the Nintendo 64. The game mode being played in the video is called "Rescue".

This footage is from my first day of playing, so I was playing a bit stupidly. When the occasional pieces show up that change shape I thought you had to wait for it to shift to the shape of the piece you wanted to place it on. Really you could just drop it immediately because it turns into whatever piece it touches.

So far I am really loving this game. You use the dpad to move around the screen and you slide around puzzle pieces to line up at least 2 of the same shape. Then once you drop a piece of the same shape on them it makes them dissapear. The goal of the game is to reach the center of the sphere and free what is inside. It may sound basic, but it's very fun and addicting.

While you play there is a timer to the bottom right, so if you take too long to put down a piece it will make you automatically drop one. If your puzzle piece doesn't land on a piece of the same shape that is touching at least 1 other similar shaped piece you lose a life. If you lose 3 lives you fail the level and have to start over.

You also get powerups in the game when you get big enough combos. If you destroy over 20 pieces with one combo you get "magic". These are powerups you can use that destroy a ton of pieces on the sphere at once. You get stronger "magic" if you do not use it and keep earning big combos. You get a firework, dynamite, and a magnet thing that do tuns of damage to the sphere.

This game is pretty cheap online. I paid 6 dollars on ebay for it and that seems like a steal. I have played this games for hours and am loving it. This is one of the funnest puzzle games I have ever played.
