The 1st 15: Heroes & Generals
"I was cautiously hopeful for Heroes & Generals, likening its promised concept to that of a free to play Red Orchestra 2 intermingled with classical Panzer General strategy elements. Unfortunately, despite Reto-Moto's efforts, or, dare I say, because of them, the great many things done right with this game, some better than any WWII title before it, are held back by Heroes & Generals' equal measures of things glaringly wrong with it.
Chief amongst the mistakes poisoning this incredibly potential-rich title is its business model. One may indeed acquire (nearly) anything in the game through strictly in-game means, from character classes to weapons, modifications, and vehicles, but the unreasonable grind required to access those things renders the ability moot, casting a glaring light upon the game's blatantly pay-to-win approach, especially where the "Generals" aspect of gameplay is concerned."

The 1st 15, our first impressions series, is quite simply the first fifteen minutes of my time with a game, for what that's worth; no more, no less. First impressions go a long way in setting the tone for how well a game is received by its audience, and even a good game can turn away potential fans if it can't hook them in its earliest moments. That said, this should not be treated as a comprehensive review; it represents my very first impressions of the game only; nothing more, nothing less.
