We were treated to a smattering of announcements at the Game Awards this in 2022. It was a decent show. Good announcements, coupled with some well earned rewards for a lot of games, and even ads that were paced much better to the point where they didn’t feel overly egregious. Here we are discussing some of my own personal highlights from the awards this year as well as trying to give every game an honorable mention as there are too many for one video to go over each individually.
Disappointing for Xbox fans this year was their lack of a presence at this year's awards, and whatever reason that may be, their lack of visibility was felt across the industry. It’s becoming harder for fans to keep waiting for all of the great games and their release dates when they seem to be inconsistent with pushing high quality games. All signs point to a big showcase for them beginning next year, but as Ryan McCaffrey put it, that only grabs your audience already baked into the ecosystem, and doesn’t cast a net outside of it.
