Day Five
Location: The Veldt, Narshe, Figaro Castle
Steps Taken: 8117
Time played: 1:25 minutes
Total time played: 3:25
Characters: Cyan (13) Sabin (13) Edgar (13) Gau (13) Celes (12) Locke (12) Terra (11)

Today was the longest day so far, and it went very well. I got Gau in my party and went searching for good rages. One of the most essential rages to acquire would be the Marshal rage, as it uses wind slash. To my surprise, I ran into this enemy in the first battle after I got Gau in my party. It usually takes forever for me to get this. A few battles later, stray cat showed up. Stray cat is another hard to find rage, I also got vaporite, commander, hazer and rhodox. The special attacks that each of those enemies hold is explained in the following:

Stray cat: Catscratch (extremely high physical damage)
Marshal: Windslash (wind elemental, ignores split damage)
Vaporite: Blaze (powerful fire elemental attack)
Hazer: Bolt 2 (level 2 lightning spell)
Rhodox: Snare (instant death attack which cancels out counters)
Commander: Break (petrification)

Those are just a few examples of why Gau is a godly character at this point in the game. Not to mention he has a high magic stat of 34, higher than anyone else aside from Terra and Celes. Anyway, I made my way to Narshe to fight the imperial army and make my way to Kefka. I set up the usual team that I use almost every time I play the game.

Group 1: Terra, Locke, Cyan and Sabin
Group 2: Celes and Gau
Group 3: Edgar

Group 1 obviously has no issues taking care of enemies. Group 2 has Gau to destroy all enemies with wind slash. Group 3 has Edgar in the back row with the best equipment, a pair of running shoes and a white cape. All of the Troopers are weak to poison, so the bioblaster takes care of them in one shot. This is a good way to level Edgar up, he's a good character to bring to Zozo. Anyway, I took out all of the enemies on the screen, and made my way to the rider. For some reason I stole an elixir from him. I don't know if this is a rare steal or not, because I almost always get the mythril vest. I was sort of let down by that, the mythril vest is really good for this point. The rider went down without trouble. Stealing from Kefka, I also got an elixir. I know this is the rare steal, so I guess that makes up for the loss (plus I got 2 elixirs in total instead of one). Kefka was cake, he did take out Locke and Terra, but I was not in danger of losing. I knew I was going to win and I did. I didn't expect ice 2 honestly though. He doesn't use it very often on all party members. Either way, it was not a hard battle. Terra went ballistic, and I went around Narshe getting better equipment and items. With Edgar leading my party I also purchased better items at the castle, since he gets a discount. The drill and flash tools should only be obtained with either Sabin or Edgar leading, you get half off. This applies to both merchants. So I moved the castle towards Kohlingen, and saved. Ending the long day five.
