95Before Final Fantasy made Squaresoft a household name, and long before the Square-Enix days, Square dabbled a bit with 3D technology on the Nintendo Entertainment System with games such as The 3-D Battles of WorldRunner, or more commonly known as 3D WorldRunner. Often regarded as a Space Harrier clone, 3-D World Runner takes advantage of stereoscopic technology to create a third person platforming/railshooter hybrid adventure which also has the option of playing the game in full “3-D mode” with special glasses that came included with the NES cart. One of Square’s earliest titles, this Space Harrier “clone” is notoriously difficult, but is the game actually any good?
