So, you're probably familiar with the discourse on difficulty in video games especially as it relates to Dark Souls. It's been an ongoing debate for years now it feels like, with no real progress here nor there. The sides are rather stale, and it doesn't seem either side tries to do much to approach the other and truly understand it, at least without ad hominems or using... bad words in the process.
In this video, I'm trying to argue my side of the issue, essentially saying that the Souls games indeed should have an "easy mode", but with significant cutbacks from the "intended" or "dark souls" mode, and I elaborate on this point in the video. What I also do, is counter the arguments of The Act Man, a YouTuber whom I respect, but whom I feel has taken the wrong side in this argument. I simply see no reason why accessibility is "bad". Nobody is arguing that Dark Souls will be "better" with more accessibility. BUT, what people are arguing is that more people will be able to approach it, which will in fact make the game better to THEM, while not at all having anything to say for those who already play and love the original, hard core and challenging Souls experience.
I hope you enjoyed the video, and that you'll partake in the discourse by posting positive and insightful comments, no matter which side of the isle you're on. Let's keep a civil discourse, we're all gamers - but more importantly - fellow humans here! Cheers, guy.
