254Since 1936, the American Hockey League has been one of the highest levels of competition that the sport has to offer. Though the AHL now operates as a developmental league since each team is directly affiliated with an NHL franchise, this hasn't always been the case during the league's 85-year lifespan. In fact, the 'A' has been home to many hockey greats who carved out pretty successful careers in the minors while they were at it too!
However, one player stands heads and shoulders above the competition and has gone down in history as the best the league has ever seen...
