The BEST Tiger in War Thunder? (1440p/60fps)
16Overview: A quick review of H.M.S. Tiger for the UK, along with 2 matches back to back.

Welcome to the imbalanced world of War Thunder Naval forces! Today I'll be looking at the H.M.S. Tiger a vehicle I earned during the last build your own vehicle event debacle. The other two units from that event being the Merkava and nigh on useless Ju-388J. I chose to grind for the Merkava and Tiger from the event, though I've been saving the Tiger for more British naval content to work on - with the addition of the Southampton and the lack of development with the other modes I've been trawling the seas in my Tiger for the past week or so in order to work on the new ships...
So how does the Tiger compare to its' contemporaries, well before that lets have a quick look at the real life history of the ship in question...
HMS Tiger was a conventional cruiser of the British Royal Navy, one of a three-ship class known as the Tiger class. Ordered during World War II, she was completed only after its end. The cruiser was later converted to a helicopter-carrying and guided missile cruiser in the early 1970's. She remained in service as such until placed in reserve in 1978 and was discarded in 1986.
So from that you should be able to tell it's a post war unit, though it should be mentioned that the unit went into service in 1959 after several delays due to redesigns during construction. Another thing I should mention is although the ship did go on to carry missiles, the version in game doesn't - at least at the moment - they may be added at a later date along with other ships in game that also are lacking in their missile armament (even though some show it on the deck of the vessel).
Note: the Tiger would need a redesign if it were to acquire missiles as this was a later development of the ship between 1968-72.
Onto the armament, the main weapon the Tiger employs is 4 x semi-automatic 6-inch (152 mm) guns in twin high-angle mounts with each gun capable of shooting 20 rounds per minute, and a secondary battery of fully automatic 3-inch (76 mm) weapons which delivered 90 rounds per minute per gun. This translates into a fire rate of one 152 mm round every 3 seconds and a 76 mm round every 0.7 seconds or so - almost the equivalent of having 6 OTOMATIC's on board (more so considering the Variable Time fuse on the 76 mm rounds).
Going back to the comparison to other units already in game, from my own experience the main competition comes from the USS Brooklyn for the USA and the HMS Southampton for the UK, with decent crews these ship can be a problem - mainly due to their armour. The rest of the ships I've fought in a "1 on 1" situation cannot match the fire rate created by the Tiger - more so within 7.5 KM where the secondary guns will open up and smother the target with HE rounds. The point you should notice is that I mention in a "1 on 1" situation, if you're outnumbered then things can become far more hazardous depending on your opponents.
The two matches shown are both HD recordings, though not the best matches I've had thus far in the Tiger and certainly doesn't show the 4 to 1 Kill Death ratio I've aquired so far. I certainly don't think of myself being a "Boat Pro" and the Tiger seems to club quite well in the current meta for naval battles. This really shouldn't come as much of a surprise when I also mention that the Tiger isn't a premium unit, something that's been seen in the past for example E-100, IS-7 etc... This is due to Gaijins' reluctance to give away useful premium units for free via events and it's also the reason why the Ju-388J is premium and the other two units aren't...
With all that being said the unit is now available only via the Gaijin Marketplace for a relatively extortionate price, again if you didn't see that coming then you've not been playing War Thunder for the past year or so...
Currently the H.M.S. Tiger costs just over 100 GJN/$ on the Gaijin Marketplace - roughly twice the cost of the premium Destroyers available for any nation (including the UK).
