The Big Flaw in Total War’s Campaign (And How to Fix It)
817The Total War series has long been celebrated for combining turn-based strategy with real-time tactical battles, offering players both the breadth of empire management and the immediacy of commanding troops on the battlefield. Its signature gameplay loop, conquering regions, developing resources, raising armies, and expanding further, seems deceptively simple, yet it is the foundation of the player experience.
However, beneath the surface, this loop reveals significant flaws. Over the course of a campaign, it tends to devolve into repetitive tasks, offering diminishing returns and predictable outcomes. In this video I’ll be examining these issues in depth and proposing 5 solutions.
