The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ (Nintendo Switch) Review | 8-Bit Eric
Binding of Isaac originally came out in 2011, and had a few releases with updated DLC, now on the Nintendo Switch Afterbirth plus is a timed exclusive that includes all DLC and is currently the only console version with everything from previous versions included.
However it is a bit pricy to get the version, even though it is physical and includes extras like stickers and a manual that is like the original zelda game.
Story begins with Isaac and his mom together, she is watching christian programming but hears a voice of God telling her Isaac is corrupted and needs to be sacrificed.
Isaac manages to find a trapdoor and escapes to safety in the basement. The game plays kinda like a hybrid of legend of zelda and Smash tv.
You control isaac with the dpad and the buttons represent which direction isaac will shoot in., So X is up, A is right, and so on… you are also able to use items that you pick up, such as bombs, and other special power ups. Some of these can be quiet weird.
Every level is completely randomized. You will never play the same game in a row. Boss placement, items, and enemies will all be in a new location. Each time you defeat a boss, you go down one more level. Sometimes it is incredibly easy to progress, but then there are times that this game is incredibly cheap in how you die.
I am going to be honest, and admit that sometimes it feels like this game is based more on luck.. BUT there is just something about it that makes this game so easy to pick up and play.
I guess the random unknown challenges due to each game being randomized encourages replaying.
There is a Total of 600 items, 180 enemies and 90 bosses. There are other features in Binding of Isaac. You can spawn a second player in for local coop which can be fun. Online features daily challenges and leaderboards for those that like to be competitive.
