GM Shyam Sundar wasn't the official coach or vice captain of the team for the FIDE Online Olympiad 2021. But his role cannot be thanked enough. He worked with all the woman players, spending a huge amount of time with Vaishali, Bhakti and Savitha Shri. He also ensured that Harika, whose health was not up to the mark got all her notes prepared and ready for easy consumption so that she didn't have to stretch too much.

Shyam hardly slept 3-4 hours each night as he wanted to ensure the best preparation for team India. He is the official coach of the team for the World Women Team Championships 2021 to be held later this month in Spain. But unfortunately he is unable to get his visa. The tiredness is visible on his face in this interview, but as Vidit says, "Shyam OP in the chat, guys! Shyam OP!"
