THE COMMODORE ARCHIVE: AXIS ASSASSIN - C64 - 1983
A very early C64 game and one of the first from Electronic Arts back in the day when they weren't the most hated company on the planet. With a copyright of 1982 this would be a pretty early title in the machines lifetime and it does show.
Coded by John Field, this is another arcade 'clone', this time a riff on vector masterpiece TEMPEST. You're at the end of the vector 'Web' with beasties coming down each track. Blast the baddies and make sure the barricades don't reach the end of the track or you get hemmed in. each level has a different web but the baddies are little more than ASCII characters which makes them hard to see.
This isn't a particularly memorable title and feels rushed and unpolished. Still, fine for a quick blast now and then but there will be better versions of this down the line.
