The Computer Chronicles 1995 Segment on The ImagiNation Network / INN (1991) (AI Upscale) (4K)
Imagination Network.. online game service made by Sierra. Like an early version of Nintendo's "Miiverse" or PlayStation Home. A place to play games and connect with friends. Bear remembers it was kind of cool at the time, but not as popular as Sierra hoped!
This segment aired on The Computer Chronicles Season 13, Episode 8. Although INN came out in 1991, this segment is from 1995.
The ImagiNation Network (INN) was one of the first online multiplayer gaming services, launched by Sierra On-Line in 1991. Originally called The Sierra Network, it offered a mix of social interaction and online games, including adventure games, card games, strategy games, and even an early form of MMORPG-style gameplay with The Shadow of Yserbius. Designed for dial-up modem users, INN featured chat rooms, leaderboards, and a virtual world where players could explore different themed areas. Despite its innovation and passionate community, the service struggled with competition and ownership changes, ultimately shutting down in 1996. Today, it's remembered as a pioneering effort in online gaming and virtual communities.
