The "Crafting Bench" Is Already in POE 2 (Just Not How You Expect)
137[This video is about the socket system being used in Path of Exile 2 as a replacement for the crafting bench. I do briefly mention general crafting as well (toward the end), but only as a reminder that the game will inevitably evolve and that more crafting diversity will be added.] I've seen a lot of people complaining about the absence of a crafting bench in Path Of Exile 2. It's actually one of the top complaints you'll come across regarding Path of Exile 2! But I'm here to tell you that we do have something equivalent to a crafting bench, and in some ways, it's even better than POE's original bench! I hope this video helps people see it more clearly. Also, we shouldn't compare everything in PoE 2 to PoE 1. For example, we don't have socketable items in Path of Exile 1; and that's perfectly fine since both games have different flavors! POE 2 is far from ready but is on the right track; Anyone saying "POE 2 bad" right now will come rushing back once GGG drops their next major Patch, shouting "THERE IS STILL HOPE" and "POE 2 GOOD!" It’s always been that way!
The only people who can reasonably complain about not having an exact crafting bench like in Path of Exile 1 are those doing mirror-tier crafting. But players at that level are a small minority ; most of the player base will never reach that point. Also, POE 1 and POE 2 are meant to offer slightly different experiences. // So again, we do have a system that's similar to POE1's crafting bench and that is the SOCKETABLE ITEM system. This system doesn't exist in POE 1
And to also address the lack of Artificer’s Orb and Rune drops ; That's totally true, but only for LEAGUE START SCENARIOS ( when you're progressing your first character inside a league ). GGG can tweak the drops or add a socket quest in the early acts, that's not the end of the world!
