The Crew 2 - Burning The Burnouts
That 5th gears a killer. I'm a big racing games fan and I've seen so many racing games on the PlayStation store that its like being lost at sea trying to see which one is worth getting, I've been a huge Crew player since the first game back in 2014 and hearing it would get a sequel was exciting. Preface to this episode is that Crew 2 here is with the latest patches and every DLC its gotten since its original release date.
Released on June 29th 2018, The Crew 2 leaves the high stakes USA racing and the cops behind for a new story involving our un-named player character hired for a new event called LIVE, a real time motor/water/air racing series where we seek to become the best in 4 Disciplines: Street Racing, Off-Road, Freestyle and Pro Racing with each discipline having a rival and a ally.
The massive vehicle list contains various brands such as Chevrolet, TVR, Porsche, RUF and more, Watercraft based vehicles I'm not as familiar with or the aircrafts except Beechcraft. Vehicles can be bought with crew bucks you earn through races, the live summit or pvp, or you can use crew credits with some vehicles you cannot get except through crew credits or through the live summit, I've never, personally won a live summit car except once so I suppose that one victory is worth something.
Controls are still slippery like in the original game making it hard to turn at times, so the Pro control settings on steering are a must, AI traffic pisses me off at times due to the way it spawns in or they appear when you are making a blind turn, but its better ai then in the original game. Additions throughout this game includes Interceptor vehicles (a nod to the calling all units dlc from Crew), Service taxis, limos and good delivery vehicles and F1 racing tracks among others.
Platinum isn't that hard to get as you need to defeat your rival in each discipline, clear the LIVE series and its finale, photo ops among other things making it a average platinum for the trophy hunters. It has a lot of advantages vs the original game while having its own issues, but I think Crew 2 is a solid arcade racer that keeps the gears at the right setting.
