42We begin our trudge Into The Storm with the newest Japanese icon to enter the game in the form of the legendary 1997 Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R. If you played the Gran Turismo series for as long as I have, then you know what this car is capable of and why Forza stans have been waiting far too long for this to return to the series. Now that it's here in The Crew 2, is the game's best Front-Wheel drive car?
Top Speed: Above Average
Acceleration: Average
Nitrous: Average
Cornering Speed: Average
Handling: Rather grippy for a FWD car, though there is body roll involved even with the wide fenders so expect some understeer. The car could benefit from wider tires when fully upgraded.
Performance: both FTOs have a really high top speed, but reaching that top speed is another story. Both its acceleration and nitrous are on the weak average side of things so pick up during a race is definitely not guaranteed. In comparison to the other Mitsubishis in Street Race, the FTO is the slowest of them all.
Conclusion: the FTO is definitely lower mid-table, faster than you might expect, but still on the lower-end of the leaderboards. It's quite surprising for a (mostly) front-wheel drive car since the last front-wheel drive car we tested, the Civic Type R FK2, only managed under 2:40 at Temecula Wineries. Is it the fastest? We'll have to see how the other oldies do before we make a conclusion.
