The Czechoslovak Legion, an army trapped in the Russian Civil War
0Welcome to House of History. Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the channel - it has grown to the extent that I had never imagined a year ago and the viewership base is one that I am very happy with and, to be honest, proud of. The in-depth comments about a variety of topics are always a joy to read. I figured that for this occasion I’d create a video about one of histories’ curious heroic tales that is much lesser known than it should be.
The Czechoslovak Legion. Officially part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, these Czechoslovak volunteers would fight with the Russians in order to attempt to establish a Czechoslovak independent state. Now, in 1917 the Bolsheviks seized power in Russia which put the legion in a very difficult position. They would wander through Russia for years, fighting against the Bolsheviks, controlling the majority of the Trans-Siberian railroad and more-or-less establishing their own state within a state.
It is the incredible story of a nation fighting for their independence.
