The Devil in Me was developed by Supermassive Games and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment as the third out of eight planned standalone horror video games in The Dark Pictures Anthology.
The game is played with a cast of five protagonists in a multilinear narrative influenced by a player’s choice. The decision-making scenes within the game significantly alter the plot direction and can change the main character relationships, which can lead to any of the five protagonists dying permanently.
This game introduces new gameplay features such as a character inventory system, additional character movement abilities to run, jump and climb plus tool-based puzzles that were not present in the previous The Dark Pictures Anthology games.
The Devil in Me follows five protagonists who are a part of a documentary film crew invited to a replica of H.H. Holmes' murder hotel located on an island in Lake Michigan where they will be able to film for an episode of their related H.H. Holmes series. Not long after their arrival to the island they realize things are not what they appear, and their lives are at stake based on the events that take place within the hotel as they must escape a mysterious masked man portraying H.H. Holmes who attempts to kill them.
The Devil in Me was released for PlayStation 4 & 5, PC, Xbox One & Series X/S on November 18, 2022.
