The Disney Afternoon Collection (TaleSpin and Darkwing Duck Part 1) playthrough
Here we go, with a couple more games. Well, one and part of another. TaleSpin. Oh god, I am not good as Schmups. And this one's got a couple wonky controls. Being able to reverse the screen scroll alone is enough to make my head spin, but then the angled shots are really annoying to try to aim and deal with. Plus the final level has three sections, the latter two fairly difficult, and if you die on any of them it's all the way back to the beginning. I got super lucky and got two health power ups in the very last bit, the only way I was able to win.
And then on to Darkwing Duck. The very first impression was positive. It seemed like a Mega Man style game. That comforting thought did not last long, however. The controls aren't as nice as Mega Man's, especially with the hanging from platforms. You only get one of three subweapons at a time, and the enemies in this can be super annoying. Blocking your progress with enemies that have invulnerability states and difficult to avoid attacks, and DW himself is fairly fragile with only four pips of life. I made it through the first three stages but it was a chore. And for the first time so far I use the save state feature to pause between days. Sigh. But at least DW looks like it has unlimited continues, so I should be able to get through it with much difficulty and swearing. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/the_nametag
