The Dwarfs of Daybreak Miniatures!
While our video mostly focuses on dwarfs, it was actually the knights that first got my interest. I'd seen a really ornate looking paladin- type on social media most likely, and I remember being quite impressed with the design. Someone had done a really nice conversion based on the model "Chlodvig du Marteau Lourd" who you can see in the beginning of the video, but I couldn't recall who the designer was.
Eventually I found out it was Daybreak Miniatures, and even better, that very same knight was in their Patreon's welcome box! The focus at that time were not those knights, but rather something else that's quite familiar to us all- Dwarfs.
Dwarfs aren't usually my first pick for fantasy races but I liked how intricate their armor was, and the fact that they had actual legs. Legs, on a dwarf! How often does that seem to happen on the tabletop?
Scale- wise I think they look good with a lot of other modern figures.
One important thing to mention about the scale- a lot of their figures are already presupported at both gaming scale and more statuette 75mm figure painting scale. A nice plus for those that prefer that type of model. They also have a large selection of busts that match up with most of the figures they've released so far.
My biggest issue I've come across is how the parts are cut for each model. With a little more planning just about the entire range could have been designed as modular multipart figures, which for wargamers is usually something that they quite like (at least more so compared to tabletop RPG players). So despite the fact that most limbs are locked in for a certain model, overall the range looks nice.
I couldn't help but notice they've also done dragonborn and chaos warrior models, so it seems we may be visiting with Daybreak again in the future...
