In this chapter, Elen takes another break from the Main Quest in order to get her general bearings and complete a variety of small assignments for her factions. Since she has to go to Ald'ruhn in order to learn about the newly discovered mysterious Sixth House Base anyway, she takes this opportunity to complete her delivery missions for Edwinna Elbert at the local Mages' Guild, as well as her thieving assignments from Aengoth the Jeweler, and yet another mission for the Imperial Legion; in between her travels, she also exposes the Telvanni spy planted inside the Mages' Guild in Vivec. After reporting back to the Imperial Chapels at Ebonheart and to Gentleman Jim Stacey in Vivec, she is finally ready to head into genuine danger again, hitching a boat ride to the West Coast.
