Here's my in-depth review of the game. Keep in mind that I've never played a horror game before, despite being a huge fan of walkthroughs and speedruns and also the Silent Hill series.

The controls were not intuitive and the camera didn't help at all. Castellanos is not charismatic enough to enjoy playing as him but the same can be said about the rest of the characters.
The difficulty setting is the biggest flaw. There's such a HUGE difference between Casual and Survival that is unbelievable. I really wish there was something in between, as it would make the game a lot better.
The voice acting was okay for the most part. Castellano's grunts were terrible, though.
Graphically I think the game gets the job done and the soundtrack is average.
Some monsters were "original" but others were just overly recycled versions of themselves.
I also feel that the "side story" with Myra and their daughter would play a bigger role in the game but maybe that was just bait for the sequel?
I also felt that the game struggled to find balance between different gameplay styles, which is why I enjoyed the last 5 chapters more than the rest of the game.

It was a fun experience, I will eventually pick up The Evil Within 2. I already bought it a few months ago so it's just a matter of time. Overall, I give this game a 7/10.
