World of Warcraft has been struggling for years, even with the successes of Dragonflight, the game's latest expansion. It seems that, at least to Nixxiom, World of Warcraft has been kept mostly alive by Classic WoW, Hardcore, and Wrath of the Lich King, with Dragonflight certainly being an important part of the game, but not the greatest in terms of population.

People are just tired of retail WoW, one could argue, and there's many reasons as to why. And those same people, who should not be confused with World of Warcraft haters, have genuinely been looking for a new reason to come back to the modern game and enjoy it again.
