In a One-Day International game against England during the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa The Pakistani fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar, nicknamed the Rawalpindi Express, bowled several 99 mph balls before firing out cricket’s fastest delivery at 100.2 miles per hour (161.3 km/h)

The delivery was the first to exceed 100 mph and Akhtar remains one of only three people to achieve this feat the others being Shaun Tait and Brett Lee both from Australia.
