The Apprentice is an American reality television program that judged the business skills of a group of contestants. It ran in various formats across fifteen seasons on NBC from 2004 to 2017. The Apprentice was created by British television producer Mark Burnett, and co-produced with Donald Trump, who was the show's host for the first fourteen seasons

Season 1 featured Omarosa Manigault Newman who would later expand her reality TV career as well as a brief stint as an Aide to President Trump.

The season 1 winner was Bill Rancic. Rancic was elected to take charge of the construction of the Trump Tower Chicago in his native Chicago, on the site of the demolished Chicago Sun-Times building. His other option was to oversee and manage a new Trump National Golf Course and resort in Los Angeles.

Rancic said that, after his one-year contract as Trump's Apprentice expired, he would leave the job and start his own company. He instead opted to remain part of the Trump Organization, and in some seasons filled in as a judge when regular judge George H. Ross was away on business.

Rancic married E! News co-anchor Giuliana Rancic (née DePandi) in 2007, and the couple went on to star in their own reality show "Giuliana and Bill" from 2009 to 2014.
