The Fortune Cookie [PC] - Journey #168
A metroidvania style platformer, originally released in Russia. Boy, do we come across a few really odd ones in Journey...
The goal of the game is basically to free yourself from the magic lands that you ended up in after eating an enchanted fortune cookie. To do that, you have to beat various stages and acquire keys, to eventually square off against the goblin king. The game is quite linear in its progression, but gives you few hints on where you are supposed to go next.
One can tell that the game has either not been tested very much, or it is made by people with little previous experience from good games. The controls are slow and clunky, the weapons are not very fun to use (and have limited usage), the enemies move fast and unpredictable and you take a ton of damage from everything. You pretty quickly realize that this is not very entertaining. The style though is very special and works pretty well, and the music in the game is quite something else.
All in all, the game is decent, but not much more. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/gikkman
