The Godfather Walkthrough Part 1: Price Of Loyalty (INTRO & FIRST MISSION)
Welcome back to the channel, dear gamers. As promised, today i'll be kickstarting a brand new walkthrough that will drop us back into the world of movie-based games for the first time since my walkthrough of 007: The World Is Not Enough nearly a year ago. The game in question is based on one of my personal favorites which shouldn't require a special introduction; The Godfather, so sit back, relax and enjoy the gameplay.
Please note that just like with my walkthrough of Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain, character created as my avatar here does NOT accurately represent my real-life appearance. Thank you for understanding and enjoy the gameplay.
About Game: The Godfather (often known as The Godfather: The Game) is 2006 action-adventure open-world video game developed by Electronic Arts' Redwood Shores studio and published by Electronic Arts for PlayStation 2, Xbox, PlayStation Portable, Windows-based PCs, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. It is a video game directly based off 1972 movie The Godfather starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, which was in turn based off 1969 novel of the same name written by Mario Puzo. Upon release, the game was met with generally positive reviews as critics praised the way its license was used and certain innovations it had brought to the tried-and-tested formula of GTA-like sandbox titles it was often considered to have emulated while criticism, while often focused on PSP version of the game (known as The Godfather: Mob Wars, it is the most stripped-back version of the game which added an side minigame known as "Mob Wars" to compensate for the lack of open world and driving sections present in other versions) generally derided the game as an average GTA clone. Regardless, The Godfather proved to be popular enough to be nominated for several awards, including in three separate categories during 2006 edition of Spike Game Awards, although it failed to win any. This success emboldened EA to create an similar adaptation of 1974's The Godfather 2 in 2009 which wasn't as well-received, marking the end of EA's utilization of The Godfather license for video games.
Story of the game closely follows the events and timeline of the movie through the eyes of an original character named Aldo Trapani, son of Johnny Trapani, who was an enforcer of Corleone Crime Family. However, one day in 1936, Barzini, Corleones' rival family, firebombed Johnny's front and gunned him down in front of his wife Sarafina and then 12-year old Aldo. Vito Corleone, Don of the Corleone family also witnessed the tragedy and promised broken Aldo that when he's old enough, he will have his revenge on his father's killers.
Nine years later, in 1945, Vito's daughter Connie is getting married, with the reception organized at Vito's estate. One of the visitors is Sarafina who, aware that Aldo, now 21, has fallen in with bad crowd, asks Vito to help him before he ends up killed. Due to that, Vito dispatches Luca Brasi, one of his most dangerous and loyal enforcers, to track Aldo down and take him under his wing in an preparation for his accession into Corleones' organization. That same night, Luca finds Aldo getting beaten up by his partners in crime in an alleyway in Little Italy after an disagreement about the division of the take from the latest job. Intervening, he smashes one of the thugs' heads in with an tire iron before forcing the remaining two to fight Aldo on even footing to gauge Aldo's fighting ability.
