CAMPAIGN
Step into the dual role of Theatre and Field Commander as either the Allied Forces or the Central Powers, as you lead the war from its earliest embers in 1914, or take charge as the fighting rages in 1916. If this is your first time with the game, familiarise yourself with everything you’ll need to know in an optional tutorial, accessible via the Campaign main menu screen.
HISTORICAL BATTLES
Relive a selection of WWI’s pivotal battles, taking on unique objectives and achieving medals based on your success.
SKIRMISH
Create your own battle scenarios and refine your tactics in standalone matches, which can be tailored to your choosing.
MULTIPLAYER
Enjoy individual battles against a human opponent, as you put your strategies to the test in 1v1 real-time conflict.
Trench warfare is the hard part of The Great War: Western Front, but it is much easier if you have prepared your forces properly and first softened up the units defending the map segment you have chosen to attack.
Here I will launch an offensive against an enemy position which I have already weakened by previous smaller scale attacks from neighboring hexes under my control. This reduces the defensive capability of the enemy army, their morale and their numbers.
If you want to be successful in the campaign this is the way to do it and I will explain more about these tactics and strategy during this video. So let me show you how to lead your forces to a great victory on the battlefield and then we will go back to the beginning to see what preparations I had to make to set this up.
