The Grey Man is a weirdo! / Lets Play The Fear Liath (Interactive Fiction)
During spoopy season, I will read a lot more than actual play because storytelling is what Halloween is all about (well, also lost souls and warding off demons and the devil but whatever). In this choose-your-own-adventure text-based horror story we go up a mountain to fulfil a last wish and encounter a Scottish cryptid.
I really like these kind of horror games without any visuals since the writing is usually a lot stronger than in horror games with environments and jumpscares and what not. The developer Andrew does a great job and has some neat ideas to let the text come alive. Play it yourself and give some love to the dev: https://andrewmck.itch.io/the-fear-liath
And in case you want to know more about the Grey Man, also known as Am Fear Liath Mòr (sorry, it's wikipedia but that's always best as a starting point for any deep dive): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Am_Fear_Liath_M%C3%B2r
Here's a link to The White Road in case you like snowy mountain horror: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/28375191-the-white-road
I also recommend Alma Katsu's The Hunger which is a fictional but historically well-researched re-imagining of The Donner Party's tragedy: https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/30285766-the-hunger
