The Goal: Lay down the most pairs without ending up with the Grouchy Groundhog at the end.

The Setup: Shuffle the cards and deal out 5 to each person (for 2-6 players). Keep your cards a secret from all other players and hold them so no one else can see. Everyone starts by putting down in front of them any pairs of matching produce that they were dealt, this is the start of your garden.

Play Time: The youngest player goes first. On their turn they can draw 1 card from either the stack in the middle or from the hand of ANY player in the circle. If this new card matches any in their hand, then they lay the pair down in front of them, otherwise their turn is over.

If you get the Grouchy Groundhog try not to make any reaction! Just wait for someone to pull it from your hand.

Players can’t lay down three of a kind, only two. If a player lays down their whole hand and has no cards remaining they are still in the game. On their next turn they will draw 1 card from the center pile or from another player like usual.
The game is over when only the Grouchy Groundhog remains. The person with the largest garden (the most pairs) and NO Grouchy Groundhog - wins!
