The History of Beat em Ups: HACK n SLASH edition PART 1 - the 80s
My follow up to my original beat em up series from 1 year ago, but this time, only dedicated to the hack and slash games.
One of the reasons I separated the genre between hack and slash and traditional beat em ups was time. My channel is still growing and I did not expect viewers to commit so much view time to a small channel.
Another reason was the scope of it all. The project was ambitious for me and already required me to get my hands on many games, lots of which I had to buy out of pocket. Adding more games meant having to spend more money that I do not have.
Third was just a creative decision. I feel traditional beat em ups and hack and slash are similar in overall concept, but not in the end product.
on a last note: YES...I did fix the audio issues that plagued my first series. it's been a learning process and continues to be one.
Hope you all enjoy this great trip back in time.
part 2: the 90s will be out next month.
