The Battle of Azanulbizar was the final climatic battle in the War of the Dwarves and Orcs. It was fought beneath the East-gate of Moria in the valley of Azanulbizar, called Nanduhirion in Sindarin. Therefore the event is also known as the Battle of Nanduhirion and sometimes the Battle of the Mines of Moria.
The Battle of Azanulbizar, fought in T.A. 2799, is also known as the Battle of Nanduhirion and sometimes the Battle of the Mines of Moria. It was a fierce and decisive conflict between the Dwarves and Orcs. It marked the climactic battle of the War of the Dwarves and Orcs, taking place at the gates of Moria in the valley of Azanulbizar.
The Dwarves, led by King Thráin II, sought vengeance for the death of Thrór, who was slain by the Orc chieftain Azog. Though the Dwarves ultimately emerged victorious, the battle was costly, with heavy losses on both sides. Azog was slain by Dáin Ironfoot, avenging Thrór and ending the war.
Despite their victory, the Dwarves could not reclaim Moria, as its depths remained overrun by Orcs and haunted by the Balrog. The battle became a somber chapter in Dwarven history, remembered for its valor and tragedy.
