Review of Dust: An Elysian Tail, a 2D side-scrolling role-playing game developed by Humble Hearts, founded and operated solely by Dean Dodrill. All of the programming and artwork for the game was done by him.

Dust: An Elysian Tail takes place in the world of Falana, inhabited by anthropomorphic animals with an anime art-style. The player controls Dust as he tries to remember his past. Dust is accompanied by a sentient sword — the Blade of Ahrah — and Fidget, the sword's guardian.

The game was originally release on Xbox Live Arcade in 2012, but suffered from poor sales numbers. Now that Dust: An Elysian Tail has been released on Steam, how will it perform in the PC market?

The Initiative is a review and analysis series on newly-released PC games. The series will show my first impressions of the gameplay and features at face value, and analyze its longevity in the market and community.
