Review of Titanfall, a game by Respawn Entertainment, the same people who founded Infinity Ward and created the Call of Duty series. This is a multiplayer-only game running under the Source Engine and the games are hosted on Microsoft's Azure cloud service. For PC, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

In Titanfall, players fight in online multiplayer-only matches set on a war-torn planet as mech-style Titans and their pilots. Its action is fast-paced, including abilities to run on walls and hijack mechs, and extended periods between player deaths. Respawn describes the game as bringing "scale, verticality, and story" to first-person shooter multiplayer gaming, incorporating elements traditionally used in single-player campaigns.

While I believe the gameplay of Titanfall is good and fun, I have my doubts with its features like aim-assist on the PC version. Taking into account the analysis of these features in great detail and its launch in countries like Australia and South Africa, how will Titanfall perform in the video game market?

The Initiative is a review and analysis series on newly-released PC games. The series will show my first impressions of the gameplay and features at face value, and analyze its longevity in the market and community.
