The key game between Vishy Anand and Peter Svidler | Legends of Chess 2020
The Legends tournament has brought together six legends and four young world class players (we would like to count Magnus in young world class players yet, although he too is really a legend!)
Legends: Anand, Kramnik, Gelfand, Ivanchuk, Svidler and Leko
Young World Class players: Carlsen, Nepo, Giri and Ding Liren
In every round players fight it out against their opponent in four games of 15 minutes + 10 seconds increment. In round one Vishy Anand was pitted against Peter Svidler. And after three games, the match was tied at 1.5-1.5. The final game was a critical one and Vishy had the black pieces. Would he be able to beat Svidler and register a win? IM Sagar Shah analyzes this very important encounter.
Other results: Carlsen beat Giri 3-1, Gelfand (shockingly) beat Ding Liren 3-1, Kramnik lost to Nepo in the Armageddon after a 2-2 tie and Ivanchuk lost to Peter Leko in the Armageddon as well.
