The KO #113 - PS1 CvS Pro - EX Sagat (and Joe : p) complete play-through (scratched disc! : o)
Play-through of Capcom vs SNK Pro on PS1 with the team of EX Sagat and Joe--although Joe kind of gets to sit this one out. :p
The skipping music and 30+ second pause between the first two rounds of the first match is due to the small, deep scratch I discovered over the weekend on this used-off-eBay game disc I just got recently! Dang. The scratch is only about a centimeter long, and runs right alongside the outer rim of the disc, so it's kind of hard to spot--although I would think the seller might have noticed the chunky playback right at the beginning of the game's opening intro, the skipping music when using the alternate game soundtrack, and occasional hangs between rounds! Although it took me a few game sessions to figure it out, so ehhh well. New game disc will be here by the end of the week. : ) (And hm, I'll get to try the PS2 Fast Disc Speed setting again--I thought it had caused the game to hang, but that was probably just the scratch in the disc. Oh, and I fixed the hang during this play-back by ejecting the disc tray and then retracting it again. : P)
Difficulty in CvS Pro is kind of weird. This play-through was on difficulty 6 (of 8), and as you see I get right through with one Ratio 3 character I don't know particularly well--but the AI doesn't seem to have much of a clue about Sagat's fireballs. The AI in the game isn't very bright; you can turtle and watch them try the same weak jump-in and get anti-aired each time, for instance--at least with most of the cast.
There isn't much if any difficulty curve during a play-through, and the the final boss isn't that much tougher than the regular matches--which I kind of like, really.
Sometimes though the AI roughs me up good; in fact in about two of of three play-throughs I tried over the weekend, with random teams, I got worked over thoroughly within a match or two. A lot of that has to do with me not knowing how to play a lot of the characters, I suppose--and lack of in-game move lists (are they there in Practice mode? I dunno) doesn't help that. Ah well I suppose I'll learn eventually.
But since I cleared it on difficulty 6 that means I have to kick it up to 7...so we'll see how I do next time. : o
(Should also have the video contrast set just about right next time; was better here but still a smidge low. Gotta get those pearly whites!)
(Oh another thing I did this time was change from Dash to Run in the game options--had forgot that was there; the highly character-variable and somewhat jerky dashes were getting me killed! : o)
