The aquarium stage in KOF 2000 (this is the "Dreamcast" version in The King of Fighters NESTS Collection on PS2) might be my favorite fighting game stage; at least, when I'm looking at it, it's hard to think of any other stage--it's just so soothing and peaceful and bursting with all sorts of life, all bathed in that lovely blue aqua tone. And it's doubly amazing considering that the rest of KOF 2000's stages are just about the bleakest! It's like they made the aquarium to make up for that.
So anyway I don't even care, I'm probably just gonna keep fighting in the aquarium. : ) And I'm just gonna keep playing KOF 2000 (in this odd endless 1-round random battle format you can do in the NESTS version's Practice mode) because now I'm remembering why it held me somewhat spellbound back in the day; the presentation is just so smooth--it was old SNK's craft honed to its peak--and the action so unpredictable with strikers ripping around--especially in this training mode where they're unlimited. ; ) I try not to abuse them *too* much. ]_] I just hope I don't get too much better at the game, because this Practice mode has a real limited difficulty range and I've already got it set to max! : o
(Although hm maybe I should try setting the main game difficulty to max as well and see if that makes a difference. ... I've probably already tried that before.)
