The Last Of Us - Background Download for Digital Version (How it works and clarifications)
This video contains no in-game footage! PS: The game needs 68% not 50% (if you are looking for this) before you can start playing.
This video shows the differences of the download and installation of this game compared to a standard digital game on the PS3. Remember that The Last of Us is the first game to support background download, so I thought it may be interesting to show the process. I pre-ordered this game on PSN so I got a few bonus downloads, like a dynamic theme, all the soundtrack, 2 avatars and a few bonus items.
1) Unlike other games the Last Of Us installer is only 137MB (usally a digital day-one game installer is over 5GB). Once downloaded you can install this piece of the game as usual. 1:51
2) When you start the game it will start downloading part of the game before you can start playing, rumors said you needed to download 50% of the game before you could start playing the game BUT it's actually over 68%. 2:22
One detail...when donwloading the 68% of the game you CAN'T do anything with your console, I had to wait for over 2 hours before started playing without being able to play another game in the meantime, I hope Sony finds a workaround to this for the PS4.
3) Once you have downloaded the 68% of the game you can start playing as usual, the rest of the game will be downloaded in the background so there are no more waiting times. 2:50
4) Make sure you have enough space in your HDD, as the game size will increase over the time until the game is completly in your HDD. 4:24 (the game at this time has only downloaded 18GB out of 27GB)
Soundtrack: Chrono Cross - Chronopolis
