Here's a little hint for the dog race:
Wear the Mask of truth and pick-up a dog when you may choose one. By picking it up, while wearing the Mask of Truth, you'll read the dog his mind. You'll have high chance that your dog places in the top 5 if it says with a high-pitched bark, Ruff! You'll get a piece of heart if your dog wins the race and if you at least win 150 rupees.
