The Lightning Lieutenant | Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! - Eevee Only - 100% Walkthrough "8/29"
In this part, we head over to the Vermilion Gym and use Chop Down to gain access. This Gym does not have a restriction like the last two gyms had, so I suppose getting Chop Down can be considered such? Once inside the gym, we must figure out the puzzle in order to face Lt. Surge. As far as I'm aware, the solution is always the same unless you mess up: start by searching the trash can to the right of the blue one, then search the trash can right above that one. Doing so will lower the defenses and allow us to deal with Lt. Surge and his Electric-Type Pokémon (Having a Ground-Type like Diglett or Dugtrio helps here, or you can teach a Pokémon Dig like I did with Eevee). After winning, we receive the Thunder Badge and move on to Route 11. Misty will push us towards Diglett's Cave, but we can set that aside for the moment for a bit of XP and to get a new system for our use. As we fight our way through Route 11, we catch a Drowzee, and get the Judge function, which tells you how good your Pokémon will turn out as you train it. Since a Snorlax is blocking our way, we're forced to backtrack and go through Diglett's Cave that Misty brought us to earlier. Inside, we catch a Diglett, and a Dugtrio, before we arrive on Route 2. Moving South, we encounter Professor Oak's assistant again and learn the Secret Technique, Light Up from him. This allows us to light up dark areas such as caves, which we will need shortly for Rock Tunnel. Afterwards, we bump into Lance, but refuse to go to Rock Tunnel with him, as we have a little backtracking to do. We start by heading south and using Chop Down to move all the bushes out of our way, collecting various items while arriving back in Viridian City.
