The Mana Series is Still Kicking Over 3 Decades Later
Koichi Ishi waited years after joining Square to help lay the foundations of Final Fantasy with crystals, chocobos, and moogles to make his own game, Seiken Densetsu. Getting his wish he finally created the game as a spinoff to Final Fantasy for the Gameboy in 1991 called Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden -- or, as its known in the west, Final Fantasy Adventure. Its great sales numbers led to the development of Seiken Densetsu 2 on the Super Famicom, known as Secret of Mana in the west on the Super Nintendo, solidifying the series' identity to be independent of Final Fantasy. In this video I discuss the Mana series up to its most recent entry, Visions of Mana.
