The 5 Biggest Problems With 'Fallout 76' by Erik Kain Senior Contributor for Forbes

Well, I hate to tell you "I told you so."

But I told you so.

When I wrote an article about Fallout 76 and how dubious I was that it would be a good game ready for a release in 2018, I received tons of backlash from angry fans.

Now the game is rocking a 49/100 Metacritic score (on Xbox One, it's slightly higher on PC and PS4) with a 2.7 user score. That's just about the worst-reviewed AAA game of the year, and one of the worst-reviewed AAA games in recent memory, and certainly of this console generation. Ouch.

Forbes Games writer Paul Tassi gave the game a 5/10 (just slightly above the game's average) writing that Fallout 76 is "ruined by the mere concept of being on a live server itself, and the fact that this was rushed out before any engaging story elements were able to be crafted to populate this map."
So what is wrong with Fallout 76? So very much. Let's take a look at each of the game's major problems. We won't have time to touch on all of them.

#1 -- Fallout 76 is online only.
The idea behind an online co-op Fallout game is pretty great. The problem with being online-only, however, is that it restricts the game in ways both big and small. For one thing, it makes the game much less accessible especially to disabled gamers who no longer have VATS, a combat system in previous Fallouts that slows time, allowing you to line up shots before resuming combat.

The impact of an online-only Fallout game stretches well beyond combat, however. There are no NPCs in the game beyond some robots and most of the "story" (as much as there is one) is told through holotapes and text. This gets old fast, and since running into other players is rare, you'll spend much of your time in a lonely post-apocalyptic, rather dreary world.

Erik Kain You Are Whats Wrong with the World. You Just Don't Get It. Its all about hanging with other people. you cant do that in single player. Jesus I Should become a Writer for gaming. i could just misspell stuff and still be better. Non Gamers should not write about games. All in all. this guy i believe gets paid way to much just to put words together when someone like me should just take over his jobbie job. but i have a youtube channel and this is more fun :D LOL
