"The Mummy Returns" is a video game based on the 2001 movie of the same name, developed by Game Brains and published by Universal Interactive for various platforms including Game Boy Color. The gameplay consists of a mix of genres which include platform levels, shooting galleries, sword fighting scenes and racing.

Platforming levels imitates scenes from the movie in which the protagonist has to escape from a torrential flood etc. Unfortuntely, the controls are too clunky for these segments to be much fun. Sword fighting segments also draws inspiration from scenes in the movie, but is way too simplistic to be any interesting. There's not much skill required, mostly just pressing the buttons hoping for the best until all enemies are defeated.

Vehicle sequences suffer from the same fate as the sword fighting, they are way too simplistic to be interesting or fun. They mostly consists of dodging things by moving up and down, with no shooting involved. Shooting gallery sections are the better ones, with shooting enemies and dodging incoming attacks/reloading. Unfortuntely, the poor accuracy and hit detection takes away a lot of the fun of these segments too.

Overall, "The Mummy Returns" is a pretty bad game. It's nice to see that a game can have so much variety in it, but since they are all lacking in execution, it mostly just shows that the whole game is poorly made and should be avoided.
