Once upon a time, I was listening to some radiohead when the national anthem came on and I suddenly remembered gecko’s impossible level from over a year ago using it. After rewatching it, I quickly realized how insanely cool of a level it is and I kinda just felt like playing it. The more I played, the more routes and skips I found, and I eventually found this route that is actually humanly possible in normal mode. I started practicing each part and trying to play it from 0, but unfortunately it’s way past my skill level so now I’m showing off the runs I’ve done in hope that someone better than me can actually beat this. As for its difficulty, I’d say it’s a lot harder than black blizzard (which I have in 3 runs) and easier than cold sweat (probably, I have cold sweat in 4 runs) so somewhere on the demonlist I guess. There may be some other strats that I haven’t found yet, so please explore!

Going into the specifics about this level’s gameplay, it’s pretty tortuous to play from 0 since it’s so long with the skips and the beginning is so easy, but everything other than the slow wave in the middle is actually pretty fun with only a few notable chokepoints which aren’t too impossibly hard. The main chokepoints are the wave wiggle at 45.7%, the second green orb at 62.7%, the wave release, robot clicks, and ship gap from 73.9% to 75%, and the very last wave skip at 94%. You may have noticed that I did the ball transition at 70% a little differently in run 3 compared to 4 so just know that I recorded run 4 before 3 and the way I did it in run 3 is easier. Also, note that I played this on 240 tps bypass which made just holding at 61.1% and 63.1% possible.

As for the level as a whole, I’d say it’s my absolute favourite level in the game by far, and I don’t think anything will ever top it. The song is one of my favourite songs of all time and this level captures the vibe and chaos of it literally perfectly with its subtle theming and extremely interesting randomly generated parts made with sputnix’s level string interpreter. I’d recommend watching wherwin’s analysis video on this level; I think it adds some pretty interesting insight into the theme of this level.

Unfortunately, my route breaks the song with the speed portal skips so I had to use auto music sync and it also completely skips the intended path at the end but I’m still very happy with what I found and I just want to say good luck to whoever attempts to beat this (if anyone).
