The New D&D OGL 1.1 - All Your IP Belong To Us, says Wizards of the Coast
The new Dungeons & Dragons OGL 1.1 (the newest form of the Open Game License) just leaked, and Wizards of the Coast have shown their true colors now as they attempt to lock down and own homebrew content for anyone using the new OGL.
While some components of the OGL 1.1 aren't that big of a deal (such as paying them a royalty if you break 750k; Epic has a similar agreement with Unreal developers for when they break 1m in gross revenue), other aspects are absolutely horrific, such as their claim that they have a perpetual right to use your intellectual property without ever owing you a dime of royalties.
They also claim that the previous version of the OGL, which has been in use for a couple of decades and claimed it was a perpetual license, is now null and void.
It's truly terrifying. More on it can be found via Noah Downs: https://medium.com/@MyLawyerFriend/lets-take-a-minute-to-talk-about-d-d-s-open-gaming-license-ogl-581312d48e2f
