On March 4, 2000, Sony’s best-selling console, the PlayStation 2, debuted in Japan (and later in other regions). It eventually outsold the initial PlayStation console, and further solidified the PlayStation brand as a mainstay in the video game world and even popular culture. Although its expansive games library contributed to its success, I also think it’s because of its sleek, minimal and forward-thinking visual and console design.
