The Promise - a cinematic short film dedicated to my late mother
3A promise has been made. It's been 4 years but I am so proud to have kept it.
On that heartbreaking day, I honoured your wishes, but I wanted to keep your memory alive with something more...something which can be expressed through what I love...filmmaking. So I thought to myself, what if I make a short film to thank all those people who are supporting me and keeping you alive through their support?
It's been almost four years since my mother passed away.
I still remember, clear as day, the last birthday which we spent together.
Almost four years later, I want to honour my mother on her Birthday by sharing this video.
Even though she is no longer with us any more, I got this idea and decided to express my love and gratitude for her through a short film / project.
On the 26th April 2019, I went to Sicily to have my mother cremated as per her wishes and I've been wanted to go to Sicily for quite some time, but my life situation didn't permit me to go abroad, so this project was always on the bucket list until recently.
I shot this video in 2 different locations; Gozo - where I share a special visit and connection with my mother as well as Sicily - my last salute to her.
This video has a special meaning in my heart and I have no plans in sharing it with many people so far.
I'm just glad that I managed to finish this video despite all the setbacks I had in 2022.
To my dear mother:
Thank you so much for everything you have done for me. Your love, respect and trust in me will always be appreciated. I promise to do my best to keep my promises to you. I will carry your honour and your legacy till my last breath.
