"I'm on a quest to play every fighting game ever, and I'm taking my friends along for the ride."

Another banger from Infinity Mugen Team, this may be their most "polished" game. As the story goes, the IMT weren't happy with Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, and set out to take the concepts and ideas they liked from that game's combo system, and use them in a project of their own. Groundbounce, Wallbounce, and specific attacks hitting OTG are here, despite looking sort of janky, but triangle jumps, flight cancelling, and hitstun decay are gone. This game has a unique system called "Reverse Damage Scaling", where instead of damage done being reduced towards the end of long combos, you actually build up potential damage by doing long combos, then cash out with a super at the end that will do extra damage depending on how long your combo was before doing it. This was also an attempt at discouraging players from doing random reactionary supers in neutral, so that they would think more about meter usage. While this is a cool idea, it boils down to having to turn the timer off in causal play until both players spend some time in training mode, lest every bout end in a Time Over.

As is the tradition with IMT games, hitboxes are more of a suggestion and the frame data is questionable, leading to some incredibly strange interactions and highly amusing infinites. This doesn't pop up as much as, say, MVC EOH or Robot Master Mayhem, but it's not absent. Considering you can download this game for free, it's more of a calling card than a flaw, honestly.

The amount of work put into this game cannot be understated despite it's jank. Not a single character present is a straight MVC conversion. New sprites and animations, entirely new move lists and gameplay, new voices, and even some cool engine trickery on characters like Rogue and Captain America are on display here. Especially worth noting is this game's version of Spider-Man having actual web cartridges as a resource to manage. The game has a fully fleshed out arcade mode including cutscenes and bonus stages with an all new soundtrack, too.
