The Devil May Cry reboot was really weird. It took a franchise was an already established tone and style and decided to morph it into something completely different in an attempt to garner a more “broad” appeal. This was done to mixed results to say the least. Hardcore fans of the original games, like myself, took issues with the way the series' lore and characters were handled. The overall meanspirited nature, excessive swearing, and unsubtle political messaging help contribute into making this project feel like anything but Devil May Cry. I love it when stories try to tackle real-world issues, but DMC isn’t really the type of series that allows room for that without making drastic changes to that source. On the bright side, though, the gameplay was decently fun in its own right, thanks to the unique mechanics exclusive to… wait, hold on… sorry, I put in the wrong footage by accident. Let me try that again.

The Devil May Cry reboot was really weird. So that new Devil May Cry Anime came out recently, and I decided to give it a watch-through, and yeah, I wasn’t the biggest fan of it. In its attempts to “modernizing” the franchise, I feel like it did more to alienate fans of the games than anything. It starts off promising, but then slowly gets worse as it goes along. I like the art style and some of the music choices, but aside from that, this show certainly isn’t for me. However, during my watch through of this, I couldn’t help but notice a lot of similarities between this anime and the attempted Devil May Cry reboot that came out only a decade prior. Like these two pieces of Devil May Cry content are eerily similar in a lot of ways when you really compare the two, and lo and behold, they’re getting the same reactions. Liked by critics, hated by fans. Funny that this happened twice. Can’t wait to see what the next reboot will look like 10 years from now. Maybe this time they’ll actually have Dante running his own business, crazy right? DmC Devil May Cry is a very weird game. It’s emblematic of the position Capcom was in at the time and serves as a good reminder of how much they’ve changed over the years.

DmC Devil May Cry, or the Devil May Cry reboot, is a rather infamous game in the Devil May Cry community. It came out a few years after Devil May Cry 4 and was not the Devil May Cry 5 fans wanted at the time. DmC Devil May Cry changed a lot of what made those classic Devil May Cry games so loved and in this DmC Devil May Cry review, DmC Devil May Cry critique, and DmC Devil May Cry analysis. I'll be reviewing the Devil May Cry Reboot and comparing it to the new Devil May Cry Anime because they share a lot of similarities. Since we're looking at DmC Devil May Cry 12 Years Later, it's easier to appreciate the good this game does since Devil May Cry 5 was the loyal sequel to Devil May Cry 4 that we all wanted. The Devil May Cry Reboot is a pretty good game when you're able to look past some of its faults. it's even better if you end up playing DmC Devil May Cry Definitive Edition to get some of the extra goodies. I'll review Devil May Cry 5 another time but for now, we're talking about the Devil May Cry Reboot. The Reboot that "Killed" Devil May Cry is one of the best videos by Nam's Compendium.
